Halle Berry, Anjelica Huston Stand Up for Women’s Health at Revlon Luncheon

September 28, 2016

Revlon supported women’s health with a star-studded philanthropic luncheon at the Chateau Marmont on Tuesday.

“It’s because of women,” said chairman Ronald O. Perelman. “I want to see if we can find a way to protect the next generation of women with a complete cure so women will not be burdened with the dread of [cancer].”

While Perelman is working on eradicating worry for ladies of the future, current stars like Anjelica Huston, Halle Berry, Rashida Jones, Jennifer Hudson, Courteney Cox, Ciara, Rachel Zoe, Julianne Hough and Sara and Erin Foster braved the heat as they sauntered across the red carpet.

“Is it hot enough for you,” Huston laughed before praising Perelman. “I love what Ron Perelman does, and Revlon is a really amazing company. The work with UCLA is really necessary, particularly in a world like America that still doesn’t fund medicine in a way that it should.”

Inside, guests were able to escape the degrees as they sat down under the patio’s covering. As the three-course meal was served, Dr. Dennis J. Slamon (who was being honored for his work in oncology) also dished facts about his industry’s progression to a thunderous applause from the crowd.

But it was Dr. Slamon’s former patient, Karla Dolce, who received a standing ovation after sharing her breast cancer survival story. Dolce even inspired celebs to make a beeline for compliments. “I’m honored you’re wearing my dress,” Zoe gushed. “I love what you’re doing. Let me take a picture with you.”

Milla Jovovich on ‘Resident Evil’ Ending, Bringing Baby to Set

September 23, 2016

By Lawrence Yee, Ericka Franklin

Milla Jovovich is bidding adieu to “Resident Evil.”

Variety caught up with the model turned actress at the Chanel No. 5 L’EAU Dinner in West Hollywood Thursday night, where she discussed the last movie in the franchise, the appropriately named “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.”

Despite being her sixth “Resident Evil” film, shooting “The Final Chapter” was a unique experience.

“It’s always exciting to do a ‘Resident Evil’ movie, but this time was quite special because I got to work with my daughter and I had a new baby on the shoot,” Jovovich explained. “So it was a real family affair.”

Jovovich and her husband, Paul W.S. Anderson — who directs his wife for the fourth time in “The Final Chapter” — welcomed their second daughter Dashiel Edan in April of 2015. Filming commenced in September of that year. Their eldest daughter, Ever, plays the Red Queen in the film.

“Ever loves acting and she was really incredible,” Jovovich said with pride. “It’s amazing as a mother to see her as a professional, enjoying being on set, memorizing lines; and with the baby it was just surreal. I’d be covered in blood and fake dirt and have zombies walking around. I’d be nursing a baby on a little pink blanket in this destroyed post apocalyptic background, so it was hilarious. The zombies would come up and say, ‘Oh, she’s so cute.'”

Despite having played Alice in the franchise for 15 years, Jovovich isn’t ready to say goodbye to the character yet.

“I feel like at the moment, I’m kind of in the middle of it in a way,” she explained. “My husband is just finishing the edit and is just starting to do a little bit of press. I’ll feel it in a couple of years. Normally, it’s two or three and we’ll make another one. I think in a couple of years I’ll say, ‘Wow, I really miss Alice and I miss that franchise.’ But for the moment it’s still all very present.

Jovovich’s next role will be a total departure from Alice.

“I like true stories. Actually my next film that I’m doing with Rob Reiner is based on a true story about reporters that were trying to tell the truth about what happened after 9/11,” she said. “I’m playing the wife of one of the reporters. I got a chance to talk to her and we Skyped together. It’s incredible to feel like you’re doing justice to a character that’s still alive. I can speak for her and allow a little glimpse into her personal life.”

But before that, Jovovich will make one more trip to Raccoon City.

“Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” has a release date of January 27, 2017

Lily-Rose Depp Makes Parents ‘Proud’ at Chanel Launch Party

September 23, 2016

“I remember when they announced it,” Rachel Zoe mused at the Sunset Tower Thursday night. “It’s beautiful because her mother has been the face for so many years. Mother-daughter faces of Chanel.”

The legacy that the fashion stylist, designer, and long-time Chanel admirer described belonged to Lily-Rose Depp, who’s following the path of her mother, Vanessa Paradis.

Although her role seemed fitting, the 17-year-old model and actress who wore the Parisian house from head to toe, including perfume No. 5 L’Eau which she filmed a campaign for and served as cause for the night’s fête, spoke with Variety on the red carpet: “I would have never imagined that I’d be the face of Chanel,” and noted her father Johnny Depp and mother were both “proud.”

Inside, guests like Pharrell Williams and Chanel fragrance creator Olivier Polge were the first to hold court near the dance floor. The couple, along with others like Kristen Stewart, Milla Jovovich, Rowan Blanchard and nearly all attendees were also clad in Chanel. Perhaps, the only group who could rival the brand in numbers were the White Coats that helped circulate endless hors d’oeuvres and cocktails.

Once in their assigned seats, the candlelit dinner kept conversation’s anchored until after the second course when Depp and Stewart, in the know of a surprise performance, led the crowd to the terrace.

Closing a concert of hip-hop classics, Nas said, “It’s a pleasure to be here. I love Chanel and all that. One of the flyest brands in the world.”
