AND THE NOMINEES ARE…: The Television Academy honored the 65th Emmy Award nominees Friday night with an annual Performer Nominees Cocktail Celebration in West Hollywood. The event was held at the Pacific Design Center complex, but guests were a bit confused as to the party’s exact location. Sarah Paulson was certain she and her group were going in the wrong direction while Alfre Woodard jokingly chimed in, “We’re just following you.” Once inside, guests were greeted by a buffet-style dinner, a chocolate bar and a selfie station that sent pictures straight to the Television Academy’s official Twitter page.
Mayim Bialik said her second nomination felt “crazy, really special, and exciting and scary; it’s a lot of pressure and attention.” She recalled being at her mother-in-law’s when it was announced. “I ate some Pringles. My son had a temper tantrum that lasted almost four minutes, then we went to have some vegan donuts.” As for what she was most looking forward to, she joked, “Taking off my shoes.”

Shortly after 8:45 p.m., Lily Tomlin stepped onstage to distribute certificates to the 40 nominees, including Anna Chlumsky, Connie Britton, Dot-Marie Jones, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Judd Apatow, Kevin Spacey and Laura Dern.
Dan Bucatinsky, who already received an award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, thought it would be a great idea to create an Emmy Kit. “I think people should create a kit that comes with a snack, your favorite hair product in a very small little box, a mini flask, a shot of something very strong in case you win, and a Band-Aid,” he said. “Because at the end of night, I thought, ‘I was so unprepared.’ My hair kept falling on my forehead, all of those things I needed.”
Michelle Dockery, nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for “Downton Abbey,” said she also loves “Mad Men” and “Nurse Jackie” and that Jessie Wair will be on her playlist as she prepares for the red carpet. “Each year I can’t believe I’m here again. It’s a wonderful time for all of us to celebrate the show and I feel very proud of the show.”
